Directions

The PPG Place complex covers a six block section of downtown Pittsburgh. The Wintergarden is on Stanwix Street, and the entire complex can be seen from Fourth Avenue.

TO
PPG Place

 

From the North

  • Take I-79 to Exit 72 (Pittsburgh exit) which will take you onto I-279 South.

  • Follow I-279 South, and look for exit signs for the Fort Pitt Bridge/Airport. This will lead you across the Fort Duquesne Bridge to Exit 10 (Fort Duquesne Boulevard). The distance from I-279 South to the Fort Duquesne Bridge is 11 miles.

  • Once on Fort Duquesne Boulevard, make the first right onto Stanwix Street.

  • Proceed through two lights, and make a left onto Fourth Avenue.

 

DUE TO CONSTRUCTION ON THE NORTH SHORE CONNECTOR, STANWIX STREET IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. 

ALTERNATE DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH FOLLOW:

  • I-279 S toward Pittsburgh

 

  • Follow Left exit #6A/Downtown (I-376 E)/Monroeville – go 0.2 mi (over the Ft. Duquesne Bridge stay in middle lane which will become left lane and Ft. Pitt Blvd)

 

  • Stay in left lane and follow Ft. Pitt Blvd – go 0.2 mi

 

  • Before the second light, make a U-Turn on Ft Pitt Blvd – go < 0.1 mi

 

  • At the first light, make a right on Stanwix Street – go 0.1 mi

 

  • Cross the Blvd of the Allies

 

  • Right on Fourth Avenue at PPG Place


FROM THE NORTHEAST (Route 28)

  • Take Liberty Bridge Exit off Route 28 to 6th or 7th Avenue Exits

FROM THE NORTHWEST (Route 65)

  • Exit to Fort Duquesne Bridge.

  • Take Exit 6C (Fort Duquesne Blvd./Convention Center/Strip District) to Fort Duquesne Blvd.

From the South

                            OPTION #1 - Via Rt 19N and Liberty Bridge/Tunnel

•  Follow Route 19 North through the Liberty Tunnels. Upon exiting the tunnels, you will now be on the Liberty Bridge.

•  Stay in the right lane and take the Boulevard of the Allies exit.

•  Make a left at the stop sign onto the Boulevard of the Allies and follow to the intersection of Stanwix and Boulevard of the Allies.

•  You will come to a traffic light.   Make a right onto Stanwix Street.

•  Proceed through one traffic light.   After traffic light, make a right onto Fourth Avenue.

or

                            OPTION #2 - Via I-279N and Fort Pitt Tunnels

 

•  Follow I-79 North and take the I-279 Pittsburgh exit (Exit 59A).

•  Follow I-279 North straight for several miles staying in the left lane leading you into the Fort Pitt Tunnels. Upon exiting the tunnels, you will now be on the Fort Pitt Bridge. The left lane turns into the second-to-the-right lane on the Fort Pitt Bridge.

•  Follow the sign for the Boulevard of the Allies.

•  When coming down the off ramp, bear right onto the Boulevard of the Allies.

•  You will come to a traffic light. Make a left onto Stanwix Street.

•  Proceed through first traffic light.   After traffic light, make a right onto Fourth Avenue.

From the East

•  From the Pennsylvania Turnpike, take Exit 6, Monroeville.

•  Follow the signs to Pittsburgh taking the I-376 West to the Stanwix Street Exit.

•  Proceed through three traffic lights.   After third traffic light, make a right onto Fourth Avenue.


From the West

•  From Route 60 South, it will merge into I-279 North.

•  Follow I-279 North straight for several miles staying in the left lane leading you into the Fort Pitt Tunnels. Upon exiting the tunnels, you will now be on the Fort Pitt Bridge. The left lane turns into the second-to-the-right lane on the Fort Pitt Bridge.

•  Follow the sign for the Boulevard of the Allies.

•  When coming down the off ramp, bear right onto the Boulevard of the Allies. You will come to a traffic light.   Make a left onto Stanwix Street.

•  Proceed through first traffic light.   After traffic light, make a right onto Fourth Avenue.

or

•  Take Route 22/30 until it joins I-279 North Pittsburgh.

•  Follow I-279 North straight for several miles staying in the left lane leading you into the Fort Pitt Tunnels. The left lane turns into the second-to-the-right lane on the Fort Pitt Bridge.

•  Follow the sign for the Boulevard of the Allies.

•  When coming down the off ramp, bear right onto the Boulevard of the Allies. You will come to a traffic light.   Make a left onto Stanwix Street.

•  Proceed through first traffic light.   After traffic light, make a right onto Fourth Avenue.

From the Airport

•  From Route 60 South, it will merge into I-279 North.

•  Follow I-279 North straight for several miles staying in the left lane leading you into the Fort Pitt Tunnels. Upon exiting the tunnels, you will now be on the Fort Pitt Bridge. The left lane turns into the second-to-the-right lane on the Fort Pitt Bridge.

•  When coming down the off ramp, bear right onto the Boulevard of the Allies. You will come to a traffic light.   Make a left onto Stanwix Street.

•  Proceed through first traffic light.   After traffic light, make a right onto Fourth Avenue.

PPG Place is both on the right and left.   Retail/Food Court are located in Two PPG Place (left of Fourth Avenue), Spirit of Giving Around the World (Santas) is located in One PPG Place Wintergarden (right of Fourth Avenue, first step), The Gingerbread Houses and Train Exhibits are located in both One PPG Place and Two PPG Place.   The Ice Rink and Tree are located on the Plaza (right of Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue).   Rink office is in Four PPG Place right of Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue).







GETTING DOWNTOWN VIA PUBLIC TRANSIT:

Hop on a bus or go underground to any one of the four light rail ('T')
stations. It will cost you less than you might expect in some cases,
it won't cost you a thing.
Bus travel in the Golden Triangle's Free Fare Zone is free everyday until 7:00 p.m.

Downtown 'T' rides within the free fare zone are free all of the time between Gateway Center, Wood Street, Steel Plaza, Penn Station, and First Avenue*
Within the blue Downtowner Zone, which includes Station Square, Allegheny Center, Allegheny General Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Duquesne University, the new stadiums, Mellon Arena, and the Strip District, the fare is only $1.25 between these areas and Downtown Pittsburgh.

 * Gateway Center "T" Station is temporarily closed.  To visit PPG Place, get off at the Wood Street Station.  Follow Wood Street to Fourth Avenue.  Make Right on Fourth Avenue to PPG Place.
